Mobirise

Mike joined the British Antarctic Survey in 1990 and has sailed on the RRS Bransfield, RRS James Clark Ross,  RRS Ernest Shackleton and is currently working on the RRS Sir David Attenborough.

In 2004 Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II  awarded him the Polar Medal.


Sadly he no longer operates on the amateur radio bands from on board the ship and is now QRT.

The Gloistein Skerries

In 2023 he had the Gloistein Skerries named after him. These are some rocky outcrops in the vicinity of Coronation Island, part of the South Orkney Island group.

In April 2024 he retired from his sea going career and the British Antarctic Survey.
