Thursday has been another calm day for all on board the James Clark Ross as we continue the passage from South Georgia to the Falkland Islands.  Two things of possible interest today were a fire drill this morning and HMS Clyde passing us on a reciprocal course making her way to South Georgia.

On completion of the drill a debrief is held for all the ship's company on the Bridge and this was briefly disturbed by the arrival of a pod of dolphins that swam with us for a short period,  several leaping clear of the water.  Sadly our slow speed is not what they are looking for and so after a few minutes they headed off in search of something else to play with.

Seals on the foreshore at King Edward Point.  I think that the antenna is part of a met system.

I have been advised that the HF equipment at King Edward Point is no longer working and will be removed at some point in the future.  This means that I can no longer operate from the base as VP8SGK.

A male elephant seal has found a spot that he can just about fit into at King Edward Point, South Georgia.
