The RRS James Clark Ross is all fast alongside in Montevideo, Uruguay, having completed the 2016/7 Antarctic season.
The RRS James Clark Ross, RRS Ernest Shackleton and a bunker barge alongside in Montevideo this afternoon.
Whilst here there has been a crew change and the final science cruise has demobilised, with the scientists heading for home.
The intention is to depart on Friday afternoon, with the Shackleton sailing earlier in the day. Our first destination will be Recife, Brazil, to pick up the science team for work around Ascension Island. I will post, later in the week, details of our proposed itinerary for the summer but can report that the JCR will be heading to the hig Arctic for a science cruise. I am hopeful of seeing some polar bears.
